Ceramic Restorations

 

At BOH we offer our patients Cerec ceramic restoration services. 

Ceramic restorations are an exciting service providing a highly durable tooth coloured, ceramic restoration which is an ideal alternative to amalgam and gold fillings.  This innovative state of the art Computer Aided Design (CAD)/ Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) technology allows your BOH dentist to rebuild a broken tooth with milled ceramic in an efficient and convenient manner.

When a ceramic restoration is created, your dentist will first prepare the tooth requiring restoration.  The Cerec technology uses a specialised camera to take three dimensional images of the tooth.  The optical impression is transferred to a computer where CAD technology is used to design your restoration in three dimensions. 


The computer then uses CAM technology as it guides a special milling machine to mill a solid block of ceramic into the restoration specifically required for each individual patient.  The milling process usually takes less then 15 minutes and the whole procedure can often be completed in a single appointment.

    

The new ceramic restoration is then polished and cemented into the tooth to complete the restorative process.
